Tom's South Pole Journal

A journal documenting my 3-month trip down to the Pole to help install the South Pole Telescope (SPT). Also check out the main SPT blog, on which I'll be doing a lot of posting as well, here.

Farther Along

This has to be a short post, as we just made it in to McMurdo in time to get our anti-altitude-sickness drugs, have dinner, and drag our bags over to the "travel center" for our flight to the Pole tomorrow early A.M. I'd forgotten how beautiful the surroundings are, and we're going to try and take a walk out to Hut Point to grab some final visual stimulation before the months of flat white.

Tom - I heard you were to travel to the south pole. I was thinking that was just a nice eating establishment south of Division St. I guess I was wrong. Good Luck and Congrats on the project. I was reading up on the stats of the telescope. It is 3000x larger than my telescope project!!!
